Wedding Invitations A good friend asked me to paint her a picture for her wedding invitation. She had a number of elements that she wanted to incorporate. The wedding took place in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and she wanted the colors of the invite to reflect this, and she hoped I could find a spot for the famous Cabo rocks in the painting. I was a bit nervous about this process, but realized it was no different that an art director asking me to paint an old man in a wheelchair eating at a table in a hospital with a young boy. I’ve taken direction for many years and know when to ask my client to consider revising their (bad) idea and go with my (much better) idea. She was thrilled with the painting, and I really enjoyed the process of creating this special image for her. This gave me the idea that there are probably other couples out there who would like a custom painting for their wedding or special event. Keep in mind with a custom painting anything goes! You want a naked couple riding bareback on the beach, the veil on the horse billowing in the wind? No problem. Getting married while on safari in Africa? Lions, tigers and rhinos can make a great pattern. Photo/Illustration Collage Here is a whole other approach, combining photos with illustration. Want to use a great picture of yourselves, but want it to be really unique? This might be a nice option.
