I try to make a regular practice of meditating each morning, either on a jog with my dog or sitting or painting, not attached to how it happens, just trying to make sure I take time each morning to set the tone for my day. Today I decided to be inspired by an artist or song and make a painting first thing - wish I could commit like others to doing this daily but a daily theme just does not seem to be my thing. But who knows!
Been a tad obsessed with listening to Moby lately.
I've been lucky enough to have met incredible musicians and seen amazing music through my daughter Sonya. Hanging out in the comedy world in San Francisco in my early 20's was the perfect training ground to help me navigate the music biz with her - but once in a while it was pretty funny how my lack or knowledge or experience showed up. She was party of an amazing lineup in a Carnegie Hall / Joni Mitchell tribute. We were overwhelmed with how cool and exciting this experience was. Seriously doesn't get much better than seeing your kid perform at Carnegie Hall. I was talking to a nice guy backstage who said he managed Moby - who I'd never heard of. I asked Sonya's manager later - you heard of Moby? Uhh yeah. That was the same month Sonya did about 7 showcases in one day ending with L.A Reid coming with his entourage. I didn't know who he was either.
Are you ever inspired by a song? Tag me - I'd love to see it. Flower by @Moby. #inspiredbyasong
